My mail to the author

Hi Marguerite,
I wanted to let you know that i found your article which appeared in the "The Speaking Tree" section of today's Times of India Edition very endearing.
Many a times one has emotions but does not know the words required to express to others. Your article has just given me words which i needed.

Your article reminding me of this poignant incident

Gandhi was fasting to protest the Hindu-Muslim riots, where the Hindus and Muslims were killing each other. A remorseful Hindu, who had killed an innocent Muslim to avenge the killing of his own son by a Muslim mob, approached Gandhi to beg for clemency. The Mahatma said to him: "Go adopt a child… Be sure it’s a Muslim child… Only, raise him as a Muslim…"

I have always believed that goodness is a quality which needs to be cultivated time and again within each one of us to make life peaceful for oneself and others in this world.

But most of the times, i have to succumb to the viewpoint of people who state that its "Human nature" to behave like an animal. All their logic and reasoning becomes overbearing and i am unable to express my thoughts about the the need to be, think and feel good . I want to tell them to stop the viscous circle and to do the undoing effect.

And now your words give me the courage to say all that.

Thank you!!!

Thanks, Prasad. This blog is just a medium for me to post stuff which i read and would like to save somewhere and read again and again.. So will keep posting.. :)

And regarding the way to engage kids.. Rightly said.. Sometimes in the want to have children to "listen" to us, we might pamper them with unnecessary distractions. So will have to be doubly careful. And then, like to everything else in this life, Balance is the key...

Very true. But people now a days have forgotten that forgiving is the best Karma. As has been said by Swami Vivekanand, an eminent thinker, philosopher from India, that "don't react to what people say to you. It's their karma and saying such mean things to others show how degraded their life is. Live like an elephant who doesn't bother what a lion has to say about him."

Yes, you are right. To engage children in something or more precisely into things you want them to be engaged in is story telling. Adding to this I would tell you that to engage children with you, you need to know what they like. Once you know what they like you can always use those things to divert them from some mean things. But beware that such things should be used at appropriate places only, overuse or misuse of such distractions can cause the child to loose interest in that particular thing.

At last I want to tell you that your blog is really nice. Keep posting such good articles.
